Dr. Klein is also an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Klein came to Valley from New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, where she was an attending breast surgeon.

Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Klein specializes in benign and malignant diseases of the breast, and oncoplastics, which combines breast preservation surgery with reconstructive techniques to offer patients a better cosmetic outcome. Her special interests include breast cancer in young women, DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), novel approaches to breast cancer treatment, and patients at high risk for developing breast cancer.

Dr. Klein is a strong patient advocate who is dedicated to not only treating breast disease but to developing treatment and survival strategies that are mindful of the whole woman and her unique needs. At Valley, she looks forward to creating a high-risk screening and follow-up program, establishing a multidisciplinary breast team, and instituting “triple test” conferences that integrate the skills of breast surgeons, pathologists, and breast imaging radiologists to evaluate every breast biopsy and then determine optimal treatment.

Dr. Klein earned her bachelor of science degree in biochemistry at the University of California, Davis, where she was on the dean’s list for four years. In 1998, she received her medical degree from the Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine in Israel, where she was vice president of the student body. She completed her general surgery residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and was chief resident from 2002 to 2003. She completed her fellowship in breast surgical oncology and oncoplastics at the University of Southern California/Keck School of Medicine with internationally recognized breast surgeon Melvin Silverstein, M.D., as her mentor.

Dr. Klein is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Diseases, and the Society of Surgical Oncology. She has received several teaching awards related to the surgical education of residents and fellows.
