Valley–Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care’s Gynecologic Oncology program is committed to delivering the highest level of oncology care to women in northern New Jersey. Our exceptional team includes medical oncologists and nurse practitioners who specialize in treating all types of gynecologic cancers — including cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers — with precision, compassion and an intimate understanding of women’s unique needs.

Director, Gynecologic Oncology

Marie Welshinger, M.D., FACOG, Director of the Gynecologic Oncology program, is board certified in gynecologic oncology as well as obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Welshinger believes in a holistic, team-oriented approach to care. In addition to delivering the best possible care for each of her patients, Dr. Welshinger makes it a priority to get to know her patients on a personal level and help them address their overall health. She is also a talented surgeon, skilled in minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery.

Before joining Valley, Dr. Welshinger was Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. Following her fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, she practiced at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center in Morristown, and subsequently was the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at New York Hospital Queens.

Dr. Welshinger sees patients at the Robert and Audrey Luckow Pavilion in Paramus. To make an appointment, please call 201-634-5401.

Advanced Practice Nurses

Our gynecologic oncology program is supported by two advanced practice nurses who play important roles in the care and treatment of patients and work in close collaboration with the physician team.

JoAnne Lawrence, R.N., A.P.N. has 33 years of oncology nursing experience, has been an advanced practice nurse for 20 years and has been with Valley for 11 years (all in gynecologic oncology). She is a graduate of the master’s degree program in nursing at Seton Hall University, and she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from William Paterson University.

Jennifer Delgado, R.N., F.N.P.-B.C. has been a registered nurse for 16 years. She became an advanced practice nurse in 2003 after earning her master’s degree in nursing from Pace University, where she also received her bachelor of science in nursing degree. She joined Valley in 2008 and has been caring for gynecologic oncology patients for her entire Valley career.

Both JoAnne and Jennifer provide direct care and education to patients, collaborate and coordinate care for surgical patients, and navigate women throughout their entire course of treatment.
